Introducing … ComboVid.com!

Lately every time i release a new combo video, it attracts a ridiculous number of views. That’s nice and i do appreciate the feedback. The fighting game community has always been great to me and i can’t thank you guys enough.

Now here’s the problem. For every video i release, there are at least three or four really good ones that slip through the cracks. It irritates me to watch that happen because i can see how much work my friends put into their videos.

To that end, i’ve been working on a new website. Here’s what it looks like so far: ComboVid

I have a lot of ideas for it and i’m hoping it becomes a success. In fact i know it’ll be a success if it becomes what i have mind, but that’s going to take a considerable amount of time and effort. I don’t know if i’ll be able to manage that, but it’s worth a shot. Every day i’m going to make it a little better until either it becomes what i want or until i have to stop.

I hope you guys find it useful and i’d really like to hear what you think. Here goes nothing!

Sonic Hurricane Combo DVD Non-News

There isn’t much in the way of news to report today, because another major project has kept me busy over the past week. I don’t want to spoil it just yet, but it’ll be revealed within one week from now and hopefully you guys will like it.

In the meantime, i’ve created a Combo DVD page which covers all the essential information concerning the project, as well as a complete archive of update posts (like this one). You can find it on the navigation bar up top.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to outline the SF4 portion of the DVD. Basically, i’m going to take the entire SF4 TACV Series and turn it into one continuous combovid. Pacing between clips will stay the same, but there won’t be intro/credits storyboards between each episode.

One of the main questions i’ve been getting is, how do i go about choosing the types of combos for each episode? The answer depends on each character’s individual strengths.

Sonic Hurricane Combo DVD Status

With Evo2k10 wrapped up and my post-Evo responsibilities mostly taken care of, my primary goal now is completing this DVD. It’s the first thing on my mind and i’m eager to get it done.

The first order of business is finishing up the SF4 TACV series. The thirteenth installment was released last week, which leaves six characters. The next chapter should be finished this week, leaving four characters. You can monitor where the whole project stands by following the progress of those remaining episodes.

When i’ve covered the entire SF4 cast, i’ll go back and spend an extra week or two recording updated combos and extras. Then it’s on to compiling the DVD contents and menus. I’m not sure how long that process will take, so let’s allocate a month for that step.

Once the DVD ISO is finalized, i’ll announce the expected shipping date for the first batch of orders. If you’re worried about missing it, i’ll also change the banner on the right sidebar, so just keep an eye out for that.

Getting Ready for Evo2k10

I’m planning on going to Evo again this year. If all goes well, i should have some cool stuff to show everyone on the last day between finals blocks. In order to get everything finished by July 9th, i may have to break from the usual site update schedule from time to time. And it probably wouldn’t be a bad idea for me to practice a little along the way, so i’m not completely rusty in case anyone randomly asks to play me.

In the meantime if things slow down around here, don’t worry – it probably means i’m working harder than ever. See you all at Evo!

Sonic Hurricane Combo DVD Update

It’s been roughly two months since the initial announcement, so a quick update is in order. As of SF4 TACV 12, i’ve gone through 17 of the game’s 25 characters. I still intend to record a small handful of extra combos for those early characters, but that shouldn’t take too long.

However, it no longer seems likely that i can finish this by Evo2k10 in July, which doesn’t necessarily feel like a bad thing. In all honesty, i had some serious reservations about trying to sell anything at Evo. I know it’s gotten huge and has all these major sponsors now, but to me Evo still feels like our main community gathering – by the players, for the players. It just wouldn’t feel right for me to try to make money there.

By the way, i happen to be working on a couple of projects for Evo itself, so i’ll need to focus my attention on those in the short term. I know you guys will love what we have in store, assuming we can manage to get everything done right.

Immediately after Evo, i’ll go back to work on wrapping up the remaining SF4 characters for the DVD, giving it the extra time it deserves. I’m sorry for making you guys wait, but my main goal is making sure nobody is dissatisfied with the end product. I want it to be as good as i can possibly make it.
