SF4 Combo Challenge 07: Fireworks

I’m sure it comes as no surprise to anyone that i love projectile combos. There’s so much you can do with them, that they open up a whole new dimension to what’s possible in fighting games. With that in mind, i thought it’d be fun to issue a cast-wide fireball challenge.

Most fireballs have lengthy recovery periods. SF4’s EX Focus Attack dash cancel mechanism shortens recovery times, but comes with a steep meter cost.

Challenge: Using any character, combo five or more projectiles.

Rule #1: Obey gauge limits. (Set S.C. Gauge to Refill but use only 4 stocks. If you plan on building enough meter to use 5 or more bars, set S.C. Gauge to Normal or Max Start so we can verify your method. Keep in mind that super meter charges slower during combos.)

Rule #2: Multi-projectile specials count as one. (As in, you can use Seth’s EX Sonic Boom and Akuma’s EX Zanku Hadoken, but each pair only counts as one against the challenge limit.)

Hard Mode: Do not dizzy the dummy character.

(Apologies for skipping Abel, but stitching these together always takes a full day or two and i couldn’t think of anything interesting enough to justify it.)

I’m gonna try out with Rose by having her fire off a lp spark then dash dash loads then have the spark hit counter hit then straight into hp spark (I think that works) cr.lp xx spark, FADC, cr.lp, spark, FADC, cr.lp xx spark. But unfortunately I can’t record it. Anybody care to oblige?

I don’t think you’re gonna have much luck with that. Most people get annoyed when they get asked to capture something for someone else. It’s even worse when you haven’t verified the combo you’re asking someone to capture. But even ignoring all that, half the challenge is getting your idea on tape so if someone else does it for you then it’s not the same. I’m not trying to sound harsh or anything but that’s just the way it is.

Can’t get that to work anyway. How about reflects?

You’re probably not gonna believe this but i’ve had that A3 Rose reflect combo sitting in my computer since January 19th, 2008. In fact all i added was the F+MK xx Taunt at the end for editing purposes. That combo is the main reason i wanted to do an SF4 Rose TACV and i had to wait through seven episodes to get the chance. It feels like a minor miracle that nobody beat me to it.

been trying to do it with Sagat. He seems like he should be able to do it without dizzy. At the proper range he can link mp shot into hp shot and can juggle two ex shots, so with the proper setup you would think he could get 5

Nice job dude. Your Sagat solution was the last remaining hard mode holdout, right? In the words of David Duchovny, “Completes the set!”

(Random Rolento win quotes work too.)
