Weekly Screenshot: Dr.Wily’s Circus

Mega Man: The Power Battle is certainly a fun CPS1 title, but its character sprites and weapon effects are a little too small to produce great screenshots. The lack of versus mode complicates matters further. I’m not exactly sure how to approach the game, but i’m not giving up yet.

MMPB Megaman activates Junk Shield then Slides while Protoman activates Burning Wheel then Dashes toward CPU-controlled air-diving Slashman.

Whoever comes up with the best title wins a Mayflash Max Shooter for Xbox 360. As always, the rules are one entry per person and i’ll choose my favorite on Monday. (I’ve opened it to test it and honestly it’s a piece of junk. However it was expensive junk, so maybe someone can find a better use for it that doesn’t involve digital PSX pads, which it doesn’t support.)

To be absolutely clear, i don’t think that Xbox 360 converter is a good product at all. I just got suckered into buying two of them because their vague item description implied that it would support all PS1/PS2 controllers. They cost me around $70 each and wouldn’t even recognize my PS1 pads. Then i tested a PS2 Tekken 5 stick and that worked more or less fine.

I guess it’s primarily designed for using a mouse and keyboard for FPS games, so it might be worth a try if you’re into those. Otherwise i can’t recommend it at all. These guys didn’t even bother answering my emails, so i’m having trouble finding anything nice to say about Mayflash. But i’d rather give them away than have them going to waste in storage, because i’m definitely not getting any use out of ’em.

All the mega man cpus always sound like emo super heros when they are anything to do with baldes, and I thought you know fire is rage and junk is my life is junk or whatever.

Can’t think of a comment right now, but do you suppose it’s possible that a programmable keyboard could work with the Mayflash?

Bob Sagat: Haha why not, right? Although i did check SRK beforehand, but nobody expressed interest. Or maybe i picked a bad day, who knows?

Mienaikage: I’m not sure, but it’s worth a try for whoever ends up with it. Are there programmable keyboards with one-frame accuracy?

    You got MAYFLASH MAX SHOOTER

(C’mon, it sounds like a futuristic weapon and according to Maj’s description it might as well be the name for Mega Man’s Junk Shield…)

A lot of subtle funny captions this week, but it came down to Cirque and Scrubs. I have to admit Mega Scrubs made me laugh harder, espectially the description, but i thought the circus was more fitting.

maximuspita: Please e-mail me your address and i’ll send out your prize within the next day or two. Congratulations!

maximuspita: Well, over a week has gone by. What’s going on sir? Someone on SRK has inquired about this so if you don’t contact me within the next 24 hours, i’ll probably let him take it off my hands. It sounds like he actually has a use for it.
