Combo DVD

Update: Due to a combination of personal and legal reasons, the DVD had to be canceled. Please read the formal announcement for more information. I’ll leave this page up in case anyone finds it through a link, but disregard everything below.

SF4 Chars Completed
Release Date
25 / 25

From October 2009, i’ve been working on a comprehensive SF4 TACV Series covering every character on an individual basis. Only a handful are left to completion. Once they’re ready, i’m going to compile every episode along with nearly every combo video i’ve released since 2002 onto a special Sonic Hurricane Combo DVD, made exclusively for collectors.

Literally 95% of everything i’ve ever produced is freely available – either through sh/classic or my u2b channel. If you’ve been following my videos since the beginning, you’ve probably seen almost everything that’ll appear on the DVD. If you can’t afford to buy it, don’t worry about it.

Please understand that i’m not trying to twist anyone’s arm or hide any content from the community. If anyone wants to support what i’ve been doing, i’m simply offering the option to do so. If not, that’s totally fine. The last thing i want is to burden the community. Even if nobody places an order whatsoever, it won’t make me regret how i’ve spent the last year.

With all that said, my goal is to make the DVD as great as i can possibly manage. First off, the video quality will be much sharper than what you’ve seen on blurtube. Second, there will be some bonus footage on the DVD – mostly consisting of combo improvements i found after the character’s episode was released. Third, i’ll try to include as much documentation as possible, including annotations and transcripts as time allows.

I have a couple of surprises in store as well, which will be revealed over the next few weeks. Expect an update every other Wednesday, even if there’s nothing major to talk about.

Regarding the release date, it’s still too early to say. I’d hoped to finish by July/August, but Evo projects and other commitments postponed those plans. I’ll continue to make announcements along the way, and keep you guys updated as soon as i have a definitive target date.

At this point it might be better to hold off on preordering until the next major announcement. Thanks to everyone for your patience and support. It really means a lot on a personal level.

It doesn’t matter if this whole endeavor becomes successful enough to make me want to spend another year producing combovids for the next Street Fighter game. Or if it’s a catastrophic failure and i end up losing money. As long as everyone who buys the DVD is happy with the end result, that’s all that matters to me.

Figured it was time to create a separate page for this project. I’ll update the release date as soon as i can make a reliable estimate. If anyone has any questions or comments, please feel free to ask here.

Btw just to be totally clear, the Evo Guile and Evo Ryu videos won’t be included in the DVD – partly because they won’t fit, but mostly because i’m not done with those projects yet. This was already discussed at the very beginning, but it’s probably worth mentioning again. Believe me, i’ll have no trouble filling up the DVD without those two vids.

Well, Chun Li is finally done, so that brings us to 20 characters. Although i already thought of a potential improvement to her longest combo. I’ll try to get that recorded tomorrow so i don’t have start from scratch later on. If it works, that’ll go on the DVD for you guys.

With Balrog completed, we’re up to 21 characters now. He took longer than expected, but turned out pretty well i think.

Awesome, i signed on PSN for the first time in forever to look up the new SSF4 costumes and upgraded to PS3 firmware v3.56 because why not? Now my Hais converters don’t work at all. They light up and blink but the PS button does nothing, so my PSX program pads don’t function anymore.

Talking to Sony costumer service has been a hollow waste of time. Guess there’s no way to roll back PS3 firmware and no ETA for the next update.

Unfortunately, that means the SF4 Dan TACV will have to be on hold until i can sort out this adapter issue. Sorry guys.

Finally got ahold of a new pair of working PS3 adapters, so we’re standing at 22 characters now with Dan completed.

Feels good to finish two episodes within one month again. Sagat is ready now, which only leaves Seth and Guile … and way too many bonus materials to think about. Either way, progress!

You are pretty close to finishing the DVD. When will you continue? I am still waiting for it, as you did a great job so far.

Thank you sir, but it’s actually much farther from being finished than it seems. I’ll make an announcement about it next week, then we can discuss it further. But i need to sort out some stuff first.

It’s been over a month, so hopefully everyone heard the news by now. I’ve removed the DVD banner from the sidebar and moved the link to this page under the SF4 TACV Series tab. I would’ve removed it from the top bar entirely, but i don’t think there’s a way to do that through this iNove theme without deleting or unpublishing the page itself.

Seth and Guile were finished many months ago, but i forgot to update the counter above so i’ve finally gotten around to it.
