Weekly Screenshot: Shadows of Flame

Whoever comes up with the best title picks the game highlighted in the next few screenshots. As always, the rules are one entry per person and i’ll choose my favorite on Monday.

xmcota-wolverine-samurai-01

COTA Wolverine activates Berserker Charge as Silver Samurai initiates Bunsin and Touki (Fire). Wolverine wall jumps and whiffs j.HP, then trades s.HP with Silver Samurai’s s.HP -> HP chain. Silver Samurai’s elemental fire damage takes effect one frame before Wolverine enters hit stun animation, covering his shadows as well as his portrait.

Got a ‘theme’, with some variation. :P

    Flaming/Burning/Fiery Shadows

Clone Wars, Hundred Hand Scratch, and Samurai Slowdown were both pretty funny, but this last one sounded too cool to pass up. I have to admit, i didn’t get what The East Is Burning Red was referring to though.

Tama: Congratulations, you get to pick the featured game for the next couple screenshots. Though it has to be emulated so i can capture lossless snapshots – preferably something on CPS1, CPS2, or SNK’s MVS.

Oh wow, thanks. :D With that said, I’m a total n00b when it comes to fighters not being Tekken or SF, in the sense that I haven’t played a lot of different fighters. I dunno what game to pick… Somehow, I guess MUGEN isn’t really an option (if it is, I totally pick it), might even be cheating a bit. :P

Though, I think I played a bit of Street Fighter Alpha 2 on the PS way back… That should be on CPS2, right?

Yeah i’ve never played Mugen so i wouldn’t know where to begin. Plus there’s no official version, which makes me hesitant to approach it for something like this. SFA2 is a good choice though. I’m sure there’s some more stuff i can do with CC’s at the very least.

Hehe, true, and some versions of MUGEN have insane characters indeed. What drove me to play it though was a video on youtube with a 2-on-1 battle with Evil Ryu/Evil Ken vs Broly (from Dragon Ball). I’ve been playing a bit just to enjoy the awesome characters of Evil Ryu/Evil Ken made by Reuben Kee, who sadly passed away not too long ago.

If you already have used SFA2, and can’t really get more out of it, feel free to choose another game, perhaps one of your own old favourites? :D

supersonic1453: Ahh, okay. It’s been a long time since i followed anime, and never followed TV series to begin with. The only ones i watched enough to say i’m familiar with were DBZ and Evangelion. I liked Cowboy Bebop too but probably only watched five episodes. These days i only look out for fighting game related stuff and skip the rest.

Tama: No worries, SFA2 is one of my favorites. I’ll get started on it soon.
