SF4 Combo Challenge 04: Dhalsim

Fair warning: Dhalsim’s challenge is slightly complicated, because Dhalsim is a complicated fellow. Hopefully you guys will have fun with this though.

Dhalsim’s Yoga Catastrophe ultra and Yoga Inferno super both have seemingly unlimited juggle potential. However, they create free juggle states only under certain circumstances.

Challenge: Combo any mix of seven supers and ultras.

Rule #1: Set both of Dhalsim’s gauges to Refill – not Infinite.

Rule #2: Don’t repeat any sequence of three attacks. (In other words, once you’ve performed any attack triplet, you can never repeat that triplet again. For example you can do three ultras in a row, but you can’t do a fourth. Nor can you do three ultras, followed by some other attack, followed by three ultras again. Pretty simple, right?)

Hard Mode: Find a pattern that hasn’t been posted yet.

SF4 Combo Challenge 03: Ken

Ken’s dual challenge is a little bit different in that neither combo involves damage goals.

Ken’s Hadoken and Shoryuken specials both have lengthy recovery periods.

Challenge: Perform four or more Hadokens in one Ken combo, and another containing four or more Shoryukens.

Rule #1: Start the opponent with 100% vitality and 0 stun.

Rule #2: Obey gauge limits. (Set S.C. Gauge to Refill but use only 4 stocks. If you plan on building enough meter to use 5 or more bars, set S.C. Gauge to Normal or Max Start so that we can verify your method. Keep in mind that super meter charges slower during combos.)

Trivia Quiz 01: CPS1 & Dragons

This challenge consists of fifty trivia questions focusing on the three CPS1 SF2 titles: World Warrior, Champion Edition, and Hyper Fighting. For the purposes of this quiz, let’s pretend HSF2 doesn’t exist. Otherwise a lot of “in which game” questions would apply to HSF2 as well.

Answer as many questions as you can off the top of your head and post them as a single comment, without reading through anyone else’s responses. There are no prizes so there’s no incentive to cheat.

Obviously you can do a little research if you like, but it would take too long to verify every single answer. This shouldn’t take anyone longer than an hour to get through.

Roughly two weeks from today, i’ll make a separate entry containing all of the answers so you can check how many you got right and find out what you missed. In the meantime, good luck!

World Warrior Questions

01) WW: What move causes its own unique hit animation?

02) WW: Which characters have air throws?

03) WW: Who has the largest arsenal of throws in the game and how many?

04) WW: Which four characters can alter their jump arcs?

05) WW: Which characters possess both regular throws and mashable holds?

Classic Combo Challenge 01: Ryu

The response for the first two combo challenges has been overwhelming awesome! Seriously, thank you guys! Some people have been asking for an oldschool game headline and others have been asking for more difficult trials. This should take care of both. (Good luck!)

Ryu’s c.HK (crouching hard kick) is a knockdown attack. It renders opponents invincible as they fall, making it almost impossible to combo anything afterwards.

Challenge: In any SF2 series game, combo two of Ryu’s c.HK sweeps without dizzying the opponent inbetween.

SF2 Series Titles:
SF2WW, SF2CE, SF2HF, SSF2, SSF2T, HSF2, STHDR

SF4 Combo Challenge 02: Gief / Fuerte

Ready for round two?

Normally Zangief’s Ultimate Atomic Buster ultra inflicts 600 points of damage at full power. However, comboing Gief’s ultra often yields less total damage than it does alone.

Challenge: Record a Zangief or El Fuerte combo worth more damage than Gief’s fully charged ultra alone.

Rule #1: Start the opponent with 100% vitality and 0 stun.

Rule #2: Don’t use Gief’s ultra.
